German “Thank You Train” planned for U S
A 48 freight car German plan to send a German goods train to the United States as a token of thanks for American aid during the war. The train will tour western Germany collecting nonfood items such as Bavarian chinaware leather goods beer wine and textiles. Each car will carry items from a different state and a German committee will arrange shipment to New York with U S State Department transport support.

City Court Trial Decision Reserved in Troy Case
Judge Elmer Rassmussen reserved a decision yesterday in Troy City Court on the negligence dispute between Gerald Martin and Michael Gatti over a September 22 collision at Jacob Street and Fifth Avenue. New Bridge to Rise at Center Falls in Washington County
Reconstruction of the Center Falls bridge, washed out on New Year’s Eve, will start in July and finish next fall. A rock foundation allows rebuilding on a new site above the Flandy Paper Co. mill dam, connecting with Center Falls dirt road and the new state highway. The steel bridge will have three 65 foot spans. The old bridge near the Susan B. Anthony home was weakened, twisted from moorings, and carried downstream before removal.

Man Killed by Train Identified Utica Resident
A Utica man died Sunday under the wheels of the New York Central Empire State Express. Joseph P. Gabiga, 38, identified by a sailor’s label on his coat, died of self-inflicted actions, per Coroner C. C. Whittemore. The incident occurred near Clarified Display-Merchandise.
