Warrants Issued in Beating Case
Warrants issued by Police Court Justice Edward R. Kampf for six suspects in the beating of John Sonny Jones during the state crime inquiry in Albany County. The warrants rest on information by Morris Zuckman, Jones’s attorney, alleging conspiracy to commit third degree assault. Jones says he was beaten and suspended by heels on February 25 outside a state office building window. Atty. Gen. N L Goldstein named Edward Finch to probe the charge. Finch exonerated Monaghan staff in a later report. Sidney Gordon opposed warrants arguing the supporting documents were hearsay.
