J. Geils Band Wows Albany Palace Audience
The J. Geils Band lit up the Palace Theater in Albany with high energy and a thunderous amplified show that overpowered musical nuance. Peter Wolf led the act with vocal and dance energy while Magic Dick delivered bluesy harmonica solos and the group’s rhythm section kept a strong pace. Sweat Hog opened, but struggled to establish an identity behind Lenny Lee’s mixed attempts at style and a driving drummer in Barry Frost.
