Franciscan Tertiaries of St Anthony's Fraternity will conduct the ceremony of profession for three Troy men at the group meeting tomorrow. The session will be held a time and place to follow in the report.
St Anthony of Hudson Rensselaer begins at 7 30 p m with chapel devotions. The Tertiary Office leads to a profession ceremony conducted by Rev Conan Lynch O F M Cony with a sermon and benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Joseph A Steeley will lead a business session after devotions. Instructions for 35 novices and postulants in Classroom A at 7 p m. Men interested in group activities are invited to attend.
George S Goyer was named director of physical education at the Troy YMCA to succeed Alexander Melleby who moved to Cambridge Massachusetts. Goyer, an associate director, will head the department and direct the Day Camp for the coming summer while continuing public relations work for the YMCA.
Funeral services were held yesterday for Martial L Lajeunesse of 12 Lansing Lane Cohoes Army World War I veteran who served 13 months abroad and received the Croix de Guerre. The service began at 9 am at A G Boivin's Sons Funeral Home and continued with a Solemn Requiem Mass at St Marie's Church.
Two teenagers faced third degree burglary charges were adjourned until Thursday in Troy Police Court. Robert Abbott 18 of 454 8th St and Patrick J J Murray 16 of 396 8th St were arrested at gunpoint this week attempting to burglarize Tony's Luncheonette at 327th Ave. Abbott was committed to Rensselaer County Jail to await the charge while Murray remains on a $1,000 property bond.
Assemblyman Thomas H. Brown prepared a bill to create a Municipal Parking Authority after talks with city officials and the Greater Troy Chamber of Commerce. The plan envisions a nine member body to operate parking at Troy Union Station and other facilities, with a chairperson leading. The bill, pending Rules Committee review, faces a tight timetable as the Legislature nears adjournment.
