Repatriates Disagree Over Reports Of German Collapse
Repatriates from occupied Europe arrive in Jersey City aboard the Gripsholm amid mixed reports on German morale. Some say morale in France and Germany fluctuates with Allied bombing, while others predict no 1918 style collapse. Internment camp conditions vary, with camps in Vittel and Tittmoning offering poor meals, Baden Baden fair treatment, and changes in prisoner handling noted by an American volunteer. Official disembarkation continues with Red Cross and diplomatic staff.
