Rabies Council Plans Far-Flung Campaign To Eradicate Disease
Eighteen members of the Troy Rabies Advisory Council met at the Health Center and mapped a two phase program to prevent spread of the disease. Forty nine inoculation clinics will be set up throughout the county and a campaign to trap foxes will begin. Ten thousand dog license cards will notify holders of clinics, posters were distributed, and the county board of supervisors may form a committee to aid the program. Fox dens will be reported by farmers and others to assist trapping, with clinics at up to 24 centers and at least one per town. Public health officials stressed flexible clinic times and warned against general dog restrictions during the quarantine period.
