Mechanicville annexation sparks county board protest
The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution opposing Mechanicville's planned annexation, accusing the city of trying to seize about 42 million dollars in assessed Halfmoon property value. The measure, introduced by Cassady and Lyford, calls for a state constitutional amendment to protect home rule, with tax implications noted for Halfmoon. Two separate resolutions also urged rejection of gas tax and vehicle registration fee changes, while funding for snow removal and a proposed veterans hospital were discussed. A separate note reports Denver selling blackout cloth once used for air raid safety.
