Gregware Rites Held From Troy After Long Illness
Funeral services were held for Gregory Gregware a longtime member of the New York State Court of Appeals and local musician who died after a lengthy illness. The rites began at 9 30 am from McLoughlin Funeral Home and 10 am at St Patrick's Church Troy with a solemn Requiem Mass. Interment followed at St Jean's Cemetery Troy. Members of the court staff served as bearers. Delegations from local parish societies and city officials attended the committal services.

Fire destroys Crescent Road home in Vischer Ferry tragedy
A Crescent Road residence in Vischer Ferry was destroyed by fire at 7 i an as neighbors reported lines were down from the blaze. Mrs Arthur Luke and her family woke to smoke with their young son escaping in night clothes. the couple perished in the blaze, neighbors said. Fire crews responded but could not save the house or occupants.
