Electric Brain Controls Wire Transmission
James McCarthy leads Troy telegraph office staff after training at Weston Union School New Jersey in controlling the electric brain system. The device at Syracuse selects circuits and flashes telegrams to destinations automatically eliminating manual retransmission. Local operators type call letters to direct the typerwriter keyboard and manage circuit connections for the region. Previously Troy telegrams were sent to New York for manual retransmission with printed tape later retyped for sending. An incoming Troy telegram is printed and punched at Syracuse by a printer perforator on arrival.
