CLO Asks Return of Newsprint Controls
The CLO urged the reinstatement of wartime newsprint controls to address a severe shortage. Thomas B. Wright, chair of the newsprint division, said he would present the appeal to a Senate small business subcommittee studying the problem. He blamed the end of controls last year for price increases and insufficient supply, noting big publishers hogged the remaining stock. Senator Capehart, chair of the subcommittee, commented on the issue.
