The Schuylerville school district announces a public auction of the former Wilson 2 school property near Ballards Corners. In January the electors of the former district, now part of Schuylerville, approved the sale.
Veterans group plans August luncheon dance for mortgage burning
A local American Legion post will mark the burning of a 51,300 mortgage with a luncheon and dance in August. Area posts will be invited to attend. Joseph Willie and James A Call lead planning, Lester Burch handles tickets, Peter McMarco refreshments. Exterior painting of the building is to be pursued with bids coordinated by T SHIl Russell MacDougall and Eugene Reed. Louis E Follett, deputy county clerk, returns from Garden City convention of county clerks held June 24 to 25 with Mrs Follett.

C D Perry and Sons Inc of Troy bid on two Slalt Public Works projects. One for a three span 390 foot long bridge over the Erie Canal near New London in Oneida County with an estimate around 488 thousand dollars, the lowest of seven bidders. The second project a two span 103 foot concrete bridge over Oriskany Creek near Clinton southwest of Utica in Oneida County, with a bid of about 225 thousand dollars, the lowest of six bidders.

Prince Mike Becomes American Citizen Amid Citizenship Gala
The 63 year old Beverly Hill restaurant owner known as Prince Mike was naturalized Friday alongside 125 others. He previously claimed Russian prince lineage and faced a long battle with immigration, now resolved by Congress granting permanent resident status. A citizenship party followed with over 1,000 guests planned for July 4.

Tiny Girl Drowns In Swimming Pool
Marilyn Heares, 13, drowned in a neighbor’s recently built swimming pool in Herkifker County. Coroner Dr C G Whittamore said a certificate of accidental death would be issued. She apparently wandered to the pool’s edge, slipped and fell in with no one nearby. The pool’s depth reaches about three feet at the deep end.

Legion Clamsteam Plans and Building Repairs At Post Rooms
Clamsteam plans were discussed by the American Legion Noble-Callahan Post at 14 1st St with Emde and Pareet. Cochairs for the event are William Dinan Jr and John Wager, with Emmet F. Grogan as vice commander. Repairs to the roof and a full downstairs and front renovation were noted. The board will meet July 24. A fire trapped three children, Gene Dyck and sisters Barbara and Nurmi, upstairs. the father urged a jump, but the son said I can't. The family escaped with no injuries reported.
