Albany panel backs people mover plan and bikeways

The Capital District Transportation Committee endorsed a downtown Albany people mover demonstration and approved four cities for $6 million in federal bikeway funds. Projects include 73 miles costing $10,000 in Saratoga County, 1.8 miles in Cohoes, a city bikeway along B&M rails in Troy, and 3.5 miles parallel to Route 0 in Guilderland. Museum visit caps Schuylerville study club season

For the final Schuylerville study club meeting, members toured the Saratoga Springs Historical Museum at the Casino in Congress Park on June 15. Exhibits on two upper floors showcase Spa history in the 19th century and the Casino, a National Register listed site, has seen extensive restoration in recent years.

Boston Man Dies After Lake George Swim

Elmer Allen 83 of Boston Massachusetts died after swimming at Lake George. Warren County Coroner Dr Clinton Lawrence ruled the death accidental due to a heart attack. Allen reached shore then collapsed on the beach and was pronounced dead by deputies.

Rural bus service funds sought in Capital District
