Mechanicville Public Safety Chief Anne Messore to seek reelection
Mechanicville Commissioner of Public Safety Anne Messore announced Friday she will run again for the post she has held for eight years. She cited progress in Meals on Wheels, youth programs, park improvements, and support for a proposed industrial park, fire station, civic center, and railroad overpass. She emphasized Democratic Party backing and a goal to keep Mechanicville a improving New York community.

Prank lifts car onto school roof at Burnt Hills High
On the last day of classes at Burnt Hills Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School a Volkswagen bug was moved from the auto shop and hoisted over the main doorway. The car was removed about 9:30 a.m. Friday with no damage reported and officials praised the students for their engineering.

Leonard L. Amlaw announced numerous awards and scholarships to Shenendehowa High School seniors. Awards recognized citizenship, academics, arts, business, and leadership with many named donors and organizations in Clifton Park and surrounding areas. Military academy appointments and college scholarships followed as students were celebrated. A separate Saratoga Springs golf tournament raised about $5,000 for the American Cancer Society.

MECHANICVILLE public schools announce the annual Summer Learn to Swim program with registration June 27 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the high school cafeteria. Red Cross instructors lead six courses from beginner to water safety for ages four and up in a six week session June 28 through August 5. Swimmers bring their own suits towels and a lock. Lorch Named Director of State Civil Service Division
Clifton Park native Barry Lorch is appointed director of the classification and compensation division of the state civil service department. He has served since 1960 as chief of the special studies section and succeeds Bertrand Galvin who retired after 30 years. Lorch, born in Cornwall Orange County, earned an economics degree from Wesleyan University and lives on Canterbury Road with his wife and four children.

Clifton Park resident Allen Yasgur has become executive director of the Albany Jewish Family Services. The Buffalo native holds a BA from Buffalo State and an MSW from Washington University in St Louis. Supervisors to decide on school sale today
Ballston Spa Saratoga County Supervisors will tour an abandoned Ballston Spa School District building at 1 30 PM with a possible purchase around 50000 The facility on South Street was closed as part of an economy move and is listed near 52000 The county may use the site to ease social services crowding and has until Tuesday to buy. In other action the board may award 13 million in bids for a county office complex funded by the Public Works Act housing Cooperative Extension offices an auditorium and planning offices with no space set aside for social services.

Waterford man charged twice Friday
Michael Scarchilli 28 of 17 Mercer St faced two accidents on Friday night. He fled the first crash on Guideboard Road Route 236 and collided with Mr and Mrs Leo Blair in Waterford causing minor injuries. He was caught after a second crash by Middletown Road. Charges include leaving the scene DWI imprudent speed and resisting arrest. Court dates set for Waterford and Clifton Park.
