Home Relief Cases Up, Survey Shows
Home relief costs climbed sharply over four years as the county reports 476 March cases and total expenditures of 7564 dollars in one period and 37416 in the other. The state figures show a tripled expenditure rate and nearly doubled cases, prompting calls for a county work project to aid employment and curb relief costs. The survey notes average grants per family and per person in March 1945 and March 1949, with disparities between family and nonfamily relief.
