Mechanicville native David Sgambati son of Mr and Mrs Christopher Sgambati Saratoga Avenue received an associate degree in marketing at Hudson Valley Community College 22nd commencement. He made the dean's list all four semesters and ties for top index in his field. He is a 1974 Mechanicville High School graduate and will enter SUNY Brockport in September.
Air Force S Sgt Wallace J Morris brother of Karen Morris of Ballston Spa has been assigned to Grand Forks AFB North Dakota after a prior post in Norvenich Germany A 1958 Ballston Spa High School grad he attended Hudson Valley Community College Troy His wife Patricia is daughter of James W Van Deusen and Mrs Van Deusen of Castleton NY
About 100 residents opposed Robert Van Patten proposed 826 homes on 377 acres along Main Street in Jonesville Northway Exit 10 and Longhill Creek. Opponents warned of higher taxes, traffic, and loss of historic character while Van Patten argued for affordable homes and typical subdivision design.
Mechanicville will receive a 26 000 grant from the Economic Development Administration to plan long range industrial growth. John W. Eden announced the funding to evaluate city services, labor skills, job training, facilities, and to survey existing buildings. The city will add 6 500 toward a total 32 500 one year program.
Barbara Truscello sixteen of 122 James Street Scotia was reported in critical condition at Ellis Hospital after a one car crash on Fishhouse Road Providence Saratoga County. Daniel Sebbie of 14 Knickerbocker Road Scotia was arrested for driving while intoxicated and arraigned on the charge. The accident occurred at 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Frederick W. Lanz of 250 East Street was hit by two hit and run incidents Saturday evening in Rensselaer. One crash occurred at 6 50 p m while his unattended car was on Third Avenue, another about 11 30 p m on East Street when a motorcycle struck his vehicle. No injuries reported in a separate two car rear end in Joy Department Store lot on Friday evening involving Sylvia A. Cappelano and Marie Edwards.
The Colonie Village Board voted to extend the distance between similar commercial properties from 1,000 to 1,500 feet. They did not award a bid for a used street sweeper and issued a peddler permit to Harold Miller to sell ice cream and soda locally.

The Shenendehowa League of Women Voters held its annual dinner in Clifton Park at the Methodist Church. Francine Rodger was installed as president with Joyce Loomis as first vice president Iris Szware as second vice president and other officers and directors named.
Saratoga County Board of Supervisors plans to vote to reappoint Social Service Commissioner Joseph V. Gemmitl at the Monday meeting. He has served in holdover status since December and the panel postponed action while a 20 count indictment stood unresolved. Last month Gemmitl was acquitted on charges he used three county employees as personal maids. The social services committee recommended reappointing him at the same meeting.
