British Threaten Force In Dismantling Ruhr Plants
Berlin WV The British commissioner in the Ruhr warned yesterday that German resistance to dismantling four plant sites would be crushed with force. He said his duty is to uphold orders of the British military government and that ongoing resistance could lead to immediate plant closures and the use of force if needed. Troops were planned to stand by, though only with civil approval, as army officers assessed the four plants and options to provide alternative jobs for workers disrupted by dismantling. The overall stance shows the Allied demand for obedience to dismantling orders.
