GAF Rensselaer Plant Studying Cancer Link

Industrial hygienists from NIOSH conducted a two day probe at the GAF plant in Rensselaer to assess cancer risks from dyes and chemicals. They focus on benzidine beta napthylamine and hydrazobenzene while noting past chemical changes and ongoing urine tests with air samples sent to Cincinnati and Pine Bluff for analysis.

East Greenbush pre primary program delayed again

East Greenbush School Board tabled the pre primary program for two more weeks by a 5-4 vote amid debate over class size and parental consent. Southern Comforts to Perform at Stephentown Bicentennial Picnic

The Southern Comforts, a top local country band, appear at Stephentown Bicentennial Community Picnic on June 18 at Idle-a-White Camp Grounds Route 22 just south of Routes 22 and 43. Motorcycle Bicycle Collision In Land Lake School Bus Incident

An 18 year old Troy man, Gerald L. Gibson, was treated and released after a motorcycle collided with an Averill Park School District bus carrying 17 students at Get tle and High School roads. Bus driver Arthur W. Cipperley reported no injuries among students. No tickets were issued.

Orvis and incumbents win in East Greenbush vote

In East Greenbush more than 1 5 hundred voters backed newcomer Carol Orvis and incumbents Joanne Blanchard and Rinaldo DeNuzzo for the school board. The district approved a 12.2 million dollar budget at Genet Middle School on Route 4. Blanchard won by nine votes over Patrick Connally and DeNuzzo was unopposed with 1 1 9 1 votes. The new board members will take their posts in January.
