Traction Officials Meet Mayor Over Bus Service Shortfall
Traction Chief Thomas F. Riedy met Mayor Frank J. Hogan and War Transportation head Ralph Haver with city officials to discuss the reduced bus service after a DDT order cutting gasoline use by 20 percent. Bus reps surveyed loads on Albia and Syeaway lines amid a bottleneck from Oakwood Avenue and Beman Park riders, and congestion on the Byeaway line. Riedy urged shifting some Beman Park passengers to the Albia bus to transfer at the shuttle’s southern terminal to ease crowding. Corp. Counsel Frank A. Parmenter and City Engineer also attended.
