Rules outline eligibility nonrelations of Times Record staff or relatives entries may be submitted via puzzle blank or hand drawn copy by 5 p.m. Tuesday after publication. Prize is 25 dollars weekly, split if multiple winners, with ties or no winner carried to next week. All entries become paper property and only one prize per family.
Postmaster Thomas Powers announced address changes effective June 19 for Clifton Park and Halfmoon residents currently served by Waterford Mechanicville and Ballston Lake Rural routes. Affected customers will receive notices and change of address cards. new address Clifton Park NY 12065. Mail will be forwarded auto without extra postage until June 30 1977.
The Clifton Park town board approved 4-1 funding 2100 for the Community Service Council summer remedial reading and related programs with 50 percent state reimbursement. The plan runs July 19 to August 13, serving 100 students in grades 1 to 6 with four paid teachers and two free teachers from Catholic Family and Community Services Council, plus 2000 reimbursement for a drug abuse program.
State Police receive offer to use two rooms in Town Hall on a trial basis for a 24 hour satellite station. The plan shifts from first floor renovations to upstairs rooms now housing the tax assessor and town justice. The setup would include a breathalyzer and fingerprinting but no full staff or records, with operation by Loudonville and Malta officers.
Clifton Park candidate Frank Cuttita announced his run for town council Monday. He was eliminated from last November’s supervisor race when 143 petition signatures were ruled invalid by the state Appellate Division. He criticized the town board for favoring party loyalists and keeping him off the ballot while backing Donald McQuay for supervisor.
Saratoga County Historical Society sponsors a noon to 6 pm craft fair at Brookside Museum Ballston Spa with 31 craftsmen from New York Vermont Connecticut and New Jersey. Demonstrations include quilting chair caning tatting rug hooking gold leaf pottery stained glass and glass blowing. Lou Decker and the Tryon County Militia will drill in colonial costumes and a square dance is planned. Rain date is Sunday.
Mrs Wilbur Curtis was elected president of the XYZ Club with Mrs Howard Gooley as vice president Mrs Richard Wright secretary and Mrs James Lynch treasurer. Other officers include Mrs Ruth Vosburg sunshine chairman Mrs Gooley public relations and Mrs Jesse Duell pianist. Next meeting scheduled for September.
Schuylerville The Boys Athletic Association Banquet of Schuylerville Central School will be held Wednesday in the cafetorium of the new Primary School at 7 p.m. Athletes will receive recognition and awards for the school year. they will be accompanied by their fathers or a guest. Dinner prepared by the cafeteria staff and school food coordinator Mrs Ray Zerwick.
Dancers from Kathi's Academy of Dance present the third annual Salute to America at Stillwater High School Auditorium with tap ballet acrobat and jazz numbers led by director Kathi Sheehan. Support activities include a tug of war and craft demonstrations by local artisans.
Shenendehowa Senior Citizens will hold a blood pressure clinic at 12 30 p.m. Wednesday at Halfmoon Town Hall, monthly except July and August. Four Shenendehowa FBLA delegates travel to the National Leadership Conference in Washington D C June 16 19 with adviser Frank Basile. Delegates are April Cuva Vicki Wagner David Caldwell and Daniel Borden. The event includes competitions workshops and officer elections in D C.
A poster contest for grades 1 through 8 is tied to the Fantastik Fair on July 31 at St. Marys High School Grounds starting 10 a.m. Entries are due Monday and must be submitted to St. Marys Elementary for judging with cash prizes for posters listing the fair details. A plant booth directed by Betty and Ann Graney will showcase over 300 plants, dish gardens, hanging baskets, shells, planters, and artificial arrangements, with plant donations urged.
The MECHANICVILLE Lt. Fred H. Clark Post 91 American Legion and Auxiliary will install officers at the June 14 meeting at 7 30 p.m. in the club rooms on S Central Avenue.
The Mechanicville Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary will hold their monthly meeting Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the Lodge rooms on Park Ave. Bicentennial Brunch plans will be discussed.
A 15 year old Shenendehowa High School student was attacked in a corn field near Calico Colony as she walked home from school around 3 p.m. A slim man in his early 20s with reddish brown hair jumped from bushes, struck her with a board, but she escaped and was treated at Ellis Hospital. Police seek the suspect.
Mayor John Fascia will be the guest speaker at the annual Flag Day Program hosted by the Sons of Italy Lodge at their clubrooms in Mechanicville starting at 6 6 p.m. Supervisor Christopher Sgambati is the lodge orator for the flag raising ceremonies and refreshments will follow. Plans include a tag day by the Senior Dante Club for the Italian Earthquake Relief Fund.
Mechanicville officials invite residents aged 80 and over to call John Lenihan at city hall for a bid to crown the oldest man and woman in the Mechanicville School District. A Bicentennial Hall celebration at the Church of Assumption Hall will feature special entertainment, music, ceremonies, colonial dress optional, and a buffet.
The Southern Saratoga County Chapter No. 796 of Parents Without Partners will meet Friday at the Holiday Inn on South Broadway to hear Fred Hequem bourg, chairman of the Saratoga Bicentennial Commission, discuss upcoming bicentennial events. A Dick Rogers Trio performance and dancing follow, with future family picnics planned for June 20 at Moreau Lake and July 4 at Saratoga State Park.
