Postmaster Thomas Powers announced address changes effective June 19 for Clifton Park and Halfmoon residents currently served by Waterford Mechanicville and Ballston Lake Rural routes. Clifton Park Board Approves Readings Program Funds

The Clifton Park town board approved 4-1 funding 2100 for the Community Service Council summer remedial reading and related programs with 50 percent state reimbursement. The plan runs July 19 to August 13, serving 100 students in grades 1 to 6 with four paid teachers and two free teachers from Catholic Family and Community Services Council, plus 2000 reimbursement for a drug abuse program.

Clifton Park to open satellite state police station in Town Hall

State Police receive offer to use two rooms in Town Hall on a trial basis for a 24 hour satellite station. The plan shifts from first floor renovations to upstairs rooms now housing the tax assessor and town justice. The setup would include a breathalyzer and fingerprinting but no full staff or records, with operation by Loudonville and Malta officers.

Cuttita launches town council bid after Clifton Park race loss

Clifton Park candidate Frank Cuttita announced his run for town council Monday. He was eliminated from last November’s supervisor race when 143 petition signatures were ruled invalid by the state Appellate Division. He criticized the town board for favoring party loyalists and keeping him off the ballot while backing Donald McQuay for supervisor.

Early America Craft Fair at Brookside Museum Saturday

Saratoga County Historical Society sponsors a noon to 6 pm craft fair at Brookside Museum Ballston Spa with 31 craftsmen from New York Vermont Connecticut and New Jersey. Demonstrations include quilting chair caning tatting rug hooking gold leaf pottery stained glass and glass blowing. Lou Decker and the Tryon County Militia will drill in colonial costumes and a square dance is planned. Rain date is Sunday.

XYZ Club Elects Officers At Methodist Church Picnic

Mrs Wilbur Curtis was elected president of the XYZ Club with Mrs Howard Gooley as vice president Mrs Richard Wright secretary and Mrs James Lynch treasurer. Fantastik Fair Posters Contest Announced in Hoosick Falls

A poster contest for grades 1 through 8 is tied to the Fantastik Fair on July 31 at St. Marys High School Grounds starting 10 a.m. Entries are due Monday and must be submitted to St. Marys Elementary for judging with cash prizes for posters listing the fair details. High school girl abducted assault near Shenendehowa Campus

A 15 year old Shenendehowa High School student was attacked in a corn field near Calico Colony as she walked home from school around 3 p.m. A slim man in his early 20s with reddish brown hair jumped from bushes, struck her with a board, but she escaped and was treated at Ellis Hospital. Police seek the suspect.

Mechanicville officials invite residents aged 80 and over to call John Lenihan at city hall for a bid to crown the oldest man and woman in the Mechanicville School District.
