Pittsfield Quarantine Claim Sparks Unusual Pay Request
Mr and Mrs Ralph E Snow of Pittsfield filed a £50 claim against the city health authorities after their son’s scarlet fever quarantine kept them from work. They cite a state provision granting three fourths of wages up to $2 daily, with Snow earning about $40 weekly and wife $26. He returned after eight days, she after 17, totaling $50 in potential reimbursements. Officials say such a claim is unprecedented locally and could open similar reimbursements for quarantined parents.
