Paper Drive Set for Columbia High June 12

Resources Renewed sponsors a community paper drive at Columbia High School East Greenbush on June 12 from 8 a.m. to noon. Paper collected in the upper parking lot includes old books newspapers magazines scrap paper and paper bags. Proceeds will fund environmental projects.

Renwyck Place Housing Project Planned for Rensselaer

Groundbreaking for Renwyck Place a $1.6 million federally subsidized senior housing project in Rensselaer is slated for late summer or early fall. The 56 unit building on East and Fourth Streets will include eight one bedroom apartments per floor for seven floors, a co op store, and a social hall. HUD approval and zoning clearance are underway with occupancy hoped by September or October 1977.

Three vie for East Greenbush school board seats

Seven candidates seek three vacant seats in East Greenbush School District with a proposed 11.84 million dollar budget. James Wing of Nassau, Louise Curdey of Nassau and Gregory Alvord of East Greenbush outline goals from fiscal prudence to parental involvement while incumbents Niemitalo Bayly Carroll Racquet also run. Youth Arrested in Burglary Case at Local Auto Firm

A 16 year old youth was arrested Thursday in East Greenbush over a May 28 burglary at Van Gelder Auto Truck Supplies on Columbia Turnpike Road. He allegedly threw a rock through a window to enter, fled on a motorcycle, and faces third degree burglary and petty larceny charges. He was released on bail to his father awaiting a preliminary hearing.

St. Joseph’s Church Bazaar Heads to Rensselaer

St. Joseph’s Church at 1620 Third St in Rensselaer hosts a bazaar June 11-13 on church grounds. Hours are 6-10 p.m. June 11, 2-10 p.m. June 12, and 1-6 p.m. June 13 with booths games prizes and handicrafts. Grand prize is a Disney World trip for two adults and two children.

Hook and Ladder Bazaar Opens This Weekend in Rensselaer

The James Hill Hook and Ladder Co. hosts a bazaar today and Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. at Partition and Third Streets. Toy booths games and refreshments will be offered. A tape recorder portable radio and television will be awarded at 10 p.m. Saturday. Public welcome.

Yarter Found Guilty of Endangerment in Glens Falls

Kenneth Yarter of Argyle was convicted in Glens Falls City Court of attempting to throw a man from a third floor window. He also faced two other charges, with sentencing set for June 24, and a third matter pending a marijuana possession count. He had been jailed on bail after prior rape slaying accusations in Schenectady.
