Phillies Swap Litwhiler Naylor For Cardinals Trio

Philadelphia owner Bill Cox announced a three for two trade sending outfielders Danny Litwhiler and Earl Naylor to the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for Coaker Triplett Dain Clay and Buster Adams. Clay will join from Rochester as regulars cope with early draft pressures on Philadelphia infielders. Adams and Clay likely occupy immediate spots. Clay brings versatility after moving from outfield to infield roles. Triplett, 28, is the most veteran addition from Columbus. Adams hit .309 last year with Sacramento. Litwhiler set a 151-game error-free streak last season while Naylor started hot but slipped to .181.
