Night Club Aims to Cut Spokane Juvenile Delinquency
Spokane launches the Hi-Nite Club exclusive to high school youths in an abandoned creamery near the business district. Chet Meeker and active club members invite teens to a supervised space with a soft-drink bar, a band, and a 35 cent admission, funded by the youths themselves. The project gains police, school, and PTA backing, with plans to expand to a reading-hotel venue and to involve high school boards in club management.
