Rensselaer Man Arrested After Altercation

A Rensselaer man Jacob Herrmann II of 1229 Broadway was treated and released at Albany Memorial Hospital after an altercation and arrest by Rensselaer police. He suffered head injuries and was taken to the hospital at 12:50 a.m. Saturday.

Fire damages car on 1-90 near Rensselaer Sunday

Police report a vehicle traveling westbound on 1-90 sustained extensive damage in a Sunday evening fire. The car belonged to Steven I. Coward of Schenectady. Firefighters arrived about 10 minutes after the call, with Pumpers one and four responding.

Douglas Clark of Clearview Terrace told Rensselaer police his car parked near the 624 Club was spray painted with paint on both sides. Mrs. William Rivenburgh reported a window frame filler screen forced from her bedroom window but nothing was taken and no entry occurred.

Canaan man killed in Route 296 crash injures wife

Earl Scholz, 33, of Old Queechey Road in Canaan died at the scene after a one car crash on Route 296 near Queechey Road in Columbia County. His wife Linda Scholz, 33, was hospitalized at Berkshire Medical Center with head injuries in satisfactory condition. The car reportedly veered, struck a guard rail, tipped, and overturned, ejecting both occupants. State police from Claverack and New Lebanon investigated.

Mechanicville Man Arrested After Waterford Stop

Mechanicville resident Joseph Christopher was arrested early Saturday in Waterford after a speeding stop on Fonda Road. He faced charges of no license no proof of registration and disorderly conduct and was released on an appearance ticket for Thursday before Town Justice Joseph Geiger. A speeding ticket was issued.

The body of 20 year old Ronald Myers of Schenectady was recovered by state police divers after a sailboat capsized in 40 feet of water on Lake George near Bolton. A second man survived the incident.

VOORHEESVILLE The August Schedule for Perspectives a weekly television program on Sundays at 11 a.m. on WAST TV has been announced by the Cooperative Extension. Earwigs and Carpenter Ants Pay Homeowners a Visit

The Cooperative Extension notes many calls about earwigs and carpenter ants in homes. Earwigs are harmless to people but may bite plants. control options include Diazinon, carbaryl, or malathion around foundations. Carpenter ants indicate moisture and wood damage, with visible sawdust and tunnels. effective pesticides include chlordane, chlorpyrifos, Baygon, Diazinon, and Kepone balt. Remove moisture sources to prevent return.

4-H Leaders Host Barbecue at Saratoga County Fair

Saratoga County 4-H leaders will serve a public chicken barbecue at the Saratoga County Fair in Ballston Spa on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are sold at the 4-H office in Saratoga Springs and at the fairgrounds snack bar. Profits fund 4-H scholarships awards and educational trips.

Hillsdale Fire Destroys Home Leaves Family Homeless

A blaze centered in a two story frame house at Paul Dellea home Hillsdale Columbia County Saturday afternoon left a family homeless. Firefighters and Craryville mutual aid responded at 2 06 p m. One firefighter treated at Great Barrington Hospital two others at the scene for smoke inhalation. Red Cross placed the family in temporary housing.

Propane Tank Explodes at Corinth Campground

An underground propane storage tank exploded at Red Barn Campground on Route 9N in Corinth after a moving car knocked off the tank’s safety valve. No injuries were reported. two nearby cars were damaged. Fire crews struck the 00 gallon tank blaze at 9:08 p.m. and continued efforts this morning.
