Induction Holiday May Be Continued Amid Draft Figures
Washington officials cited June enlistments of 62 495 as evidence the Army could extend its induction holiday. Rep Short said the new extension law may negate further drafts, noting early June weekly enlistments and a 50 percent pay increase for enlisted men prompted many to enlist. Selective Service plans 95 000 inductions in September.
