Rensselaer drafts plan as HUD funds loom
Rensselaer leaders confront low turnout while HUD approves preliminary $200000 for the Community Development program. A citizen commission from affected residents will guide housing needs and funding, with about $150000 for home improvements and $30000 for municipal upgrades. The city seeks commitments of $375000 in loans and aims to start by next year.

Sewer lines extension endorsement qualified
A 1975 sewer study for the Town of East Greenbush endorses future development in the southwest town area near Barber subdivision but with conditions. It argues extensions depend on more residences to share costs and on fixing the existing collection system before any sewer expansion. It also urges density reductions if development increases sewage flow.

Monitor turret myth debunked by Local Historian
Hotline Frank Sherry notes a Channel 10 Bicentennial claim that Schenectady made the Monitor turret is unfounded. Research shows Troy firms Corning Winslow and Co. built armor plates, Delamater Iron Works in NYC made boilers and machinery, and Ericsson designed the vessel. The Monitor arrived March 1862, fought the Merrimac, sank after 110 years, and Schenectady played no part.
