Irish luck guides John Lawlor to Berkshire Playhouse
John Lawlor recalls a string of breaks from Troy to Denver to Fort Belvoir and Vietnam to Center Stage Baltimore. He earned an equity contract at Berkshire after learning a script from a library copy and winning a chance in Streetcar named Desire, then eyed future roles while planning Dracula after the Berkshire run. He credits luck and mentors like Beatrice Straight and Thornton Wilder with shaping his ascent toward NY work.

Theater Owner Sues Area Woman Over Lease Rights
The Colonie Summer Theater owner filed an Albany Supreme Court suit against Lillian Olendorf in a dispute over a land lease and a right of first refusal. Eddie Rich claims the 1956 lease allowed purchase at prevailing market price and seeks $50,000 in damages for sale of adjacent road without notice, alleging Futia offered $75,000 for the land and that sale would breach the lease.
