Troy Post Office Part II New Service Program
The Troy Post Office is among 300 cities chosen for the Nationwide Improved Mail Service plan to speed deliveries. Postmaster Arthur T. Judge plans a Troy Area Mailers Council to begin this summer, removing non priority mail after 5 p.m. to improve next day delivery for out of town points. The program targets about 50 billion national pieces, with local tests showing faster service and 80 percent of mail moved efficiently after 5 p.m. A conference at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Troy Post Office will launch local efforts with local banks supporting the plan.
