Anemia Linked to Fatty Foods Says Doctor
Dr. Joan Longini of the University of Chicago reports that fatty meals may cause anemia by fat acids breaking down red blood cells. In dog tests a fat meal increased cell destruction by over 50 percent, while protein or sugar meals improved resistance. Normal digestion disperses fat, but inadequate checks or more susceptible blood cells can lead to anemia and potential liver damage.
