John J Bennett, retired New York State Attorney General, was appointed lieutenant colonel in the Army. A Democratic candidate for governor in 1942, he may be ordered to report within 30 days to the Fifth Army Division headquarters at Fort Custer Battle Creek Michigan. Bennett also served as New York State Commander of the American Legion in 1929 and 1930.
