Public Aid Sought for Street Work in Troy
Mayor John J. Anernyeéa condemned Democratic Common Council opposition to a $190,000 bond plan for repairing and repaving about 23 Troy streets. He argued postwar timing, budget allocation, and private contractor labor would allow extensive work this year without burdening taxpayers. The mayor plans to rally service groups to generate civic support, stressing the need to proceed to avoid business losses and further street decay.
