Abusive language costs offenders pretty penny in Mechanicville

In Mechanicville City Court two men were fined $100 for abusive language and a 17 year old was fined $100 for obscene language to a police officer. A third case involved a youth charged with open container and fireworks offenses. others included a motor vehicle theft charge dropped and a motorcyclist fined for speeding.

Martino apologizes after name appears on vacancy list

Clifton Park Town Attorney Joseph Martino, Republican candidate for the 29th Congressional seat, apologized for a Minerva lawyer Andy Halloran finding his name on Martino’s committee on vacancy. Halloran protested his inclusion, saying it implied support. Martino said the committee carries no obligation to back any candidate and that he had approval to use the list.

Skidmore to Host Villella Verdy as Guest Ballet Artists

Edward Villella and Violette Verdy will join Skidmore College as guest artists in ballet. Both received honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at Skidmore's 1971 commencement. Schuylerville donors listed in $2 100 scholarship fund

The Schuylerville Community Scholarship Committee announced gifts from numerous organizations and individuals totaling 2100 to award scholarships to Schuylerville Central School graduates. Four hundred dollar awards went to Robert Relyea Karen Sue Petteys Paul Hutzky Kerry Haley. A two hundred went to Jodi Boyce and one hundred to Brenda Holmes Mary Hathaway Barbara Luke.

Albany court upholds embezzlement conviction of union treasurer

The Appellate Division affirmed the 1975 Albany County Court verdict finding Charles C. Gallagher guilty of second degree grand larceny for misappropriating about $91,000 from the Albany Public School Teachers Credit Union between 1970 and 1972 and $3,722 for personal deposits. He remains jailed for a three year maximum term. The court also upheld Jerome Murphy’s 1974 heroin sale conviction from October drug arrests.
