Scottish Groups Will Pay Tribute To Robert Burns
The United Scottish Societies of Troy Albany and Schenectady will observe the 100th anniversary of Robert Burns death Sunday evening July 28 at the Methodist Church Crescent. Sponsored by the Troy Burne Club the event features a Burns program with songs and readings and a later segment of vocal selections and bagpipe pieces. Local organizers say a large turnout is expected with readings by James L. Baxter secretary and a note that Rowan on Destroyes a ship member serving aboard a destroyer in the Philippine Islands will join the observance via cruise pages. The program and details are coordinated with the Treoy Thurn Club and local Scots lovers.

Whitehall Woman Miia Allee Rive funeral held in Whitehall
The funeral of Miia Allee Rive M. Rive former village clerk and trustee of Whitehall was held at 1 30 p m Monday from the Marled A Scott Funeral Home and Eliay Haplist Church of Whitehall. Internment was in Greenmount Cemetery. She died after a long illness in Moses Laddington Troopital Teonderoga. Survivors include Mrs Anna Wala of Richmond, Va. Adjournment to Aug 15 was set in Troy Police Court regarding Ta Man Barger charged with assault third degree.
