Equal Pay Law Goes Into Effect For Women Folk
The new equal pay law goes into effect Saturday, promising to end pay-rate discrimination based on sex. State Industrial Commissioner Edward Corsi says administration plans are ready and over 600,000 women may be affected. Sponsored by Assemblywoman Jane H. Todd, the measure excludes domestic servants and farm laborers, with a 50 dollar penalty per violation. The law seeks to replace men with women only when job value is equal, and aligns with broader debates on equal rights and postwar employment.
