Glens Falls Estate Gifts Major Sum To City Museum

A Glens Falls estate dispute ends with Surrogate Upheld granting most of a 4 million dollar estate to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Helen E. Faulds left about 3.9 million to the New York City museum under a will and 1938 codicil, with provisions for local charities and burial plots. The defense argued a 1949 codicil revoked the 1938 will, but the surrogate ruled the 1938 will remained valid and the codicil probable as an independent instrument.
