Rinaldo V. DeNuzzo of East Greenbush has been named chairman of an ad hoc committee on Visiting Professorships by the Administrative Board of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Council of Faculties. He is Associate Professor of Pharmacy at Albany College of Pharmacy and holds multiple administrative roles there and in Union University.
At a Monday night public hearing Dr. Bruce D. Jones led the Citizens Advisory Board and Village Planning Board through grant priorities for a 1974 Hoosick Falls Community Development plan. A second hearing is planned for 7 30 p m Monday to finalize resident recommendations before submitting 300 000 in two categories for blight rehabilitation park improvements sidewalks and a water tank project with funds extending into 1975. Peter Kent will draft the pre application and seek a fiscal year extension if approved.
Hoosick Falls held a Gay Nineties Dance to aid the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad at the state armory. About 75 prisoners filled a cardboard jail, including Mayor Donald K. Bogardus and Rev. Michael J. McGuire. Fred J. McGuire won first prize as the event drew attendees from Bennington and Petersburg. Over 200 people supported the fundraiser. the final amount raised remains undetermined.

The Averill Park Central School District Board approved a federal lunch program policy change to provide eligible students 10 cent lunches, replacing 55 cent type A meals, with free meals for those who qualify. Letters will go home and the program may start after Feb 1, with 45 cents reimbursed per lunch served.
Amtrak moved into the Rensselaer maintenance facility from the bankrupt Penn Central, employing 19 workers as part of a wider northeast and midwestern base overhaul. The takeover aims to anchor a larger turbine maintenance plan and adds 300 Amtrak employees by February. Duff, Amtrak spokesman, noted taxes will be paid by Amtrak on the Rensselaer facility.

A small fire prompted the evacuation of Building 15 at Winthrop Laboratories in MINSSELAER on Tuesday. No injuries or major damage occurred, the in house firefighting crew extinguished the blaze, 21 workers returned to work, and the cause remains undetermined with no foul play suspected.
William J. Lyttle of Kings Road Northumberland faces hatchet slayings of his stepmother Roberta Lyttle and stepsister Lynn Morris at the Kings Road home on December 30. He asked a Saratoga County court to allow an innocent plea change and to relieve attorney John McMahon, with a state psychiatrist to examine him.
Tickets are on sale for the fund raising dinner dance of the Rensselaer Girls Club scheduled for February 21 at the Rensselaer Knights of Columbus Hall. A Dutch Treat Cocktail Hour begins at 6 p.m. with a roast beef dinner at 7 p.m. Dancing to the Melody Men follows and all proceeds benefit the Girls Club program.
Clifton Park, Country Knolls and Round Lake area lost electricity for about three hours due to two equipment malfunctions from heavy rains. An official said insulators on a power line north of Caen's Crossing sparked outages at 8:05 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., with restoration by shortly after 10 p.m. and about an hour after the second failure.
