State workers gain rights to join groups under new bill

A 1940 executive order granting state employees the right to join any organization and set up grievance procedures could become law under a bill introduced in the assembly. Supporters say such rights are needed during the war to help employees resolve grievances and contribute to the war effort. The package also includes campaigns for minority history classes, city aid by sharing gas tax revenue, and veteran aid programs with vocational training and funding.
