Troy Officials Oppose Immediate Telephone Rate Hikes
At a preliminary hearing on New York Telephone Co increased rates, Troy officials led by Daniel J. Michel argued any rise would hurt small wage earners and urged the state public service department to justify costs. Company counsel Ralph Brown warned of expansion needs and a 200 million dollar capital program, while rates would rise differently across cities like Troy, Rensselaer, Albany, and Saratoga Springs.
