Erway Seeks To Cut Port District Board To Three

Albany area bill backed by Sen. Julian B. Erway seeks to reduce the Albany Port District Commission from five to three members and cap meeting compensation at 25 dollars. Current appointments come from Albany mayor and Rensselaer mayor, with anticipated annual savings of about 18 500 dollars. The move echoes a prior Republican proposal that would have shifted appointment authority to the governor and placed financing obligations on the state.
