Uncle Sam Post adopts Uncle Sam name in Troy meeting
A Troy veterans post, formerly South Troy Post VE W, voted to adopt the name Uncle Sam and plan youth aid work. Julian R. Mason praised local veterans for seeking official recognition of Samuel Wilson and thanked the post for veteran activities. Committees were named to sponsor an essay contest in Troy public schools in memory of Samuel Wilson. The post agreed to aid Marine Corps veteran Paul Bellinger of Hudson Falls and scheduled a clam bake for August 1 as renovations progressed.
