State May Take Over Highway Snow Removal
Legislation is drafted to shift snow removal for state highways from localities to the state. Charles H. Sells, superintendent of public works, says state operation would yield more uniform standards and greater continuity of control. If approved by Governor Dewey, a bill will be introduced soon. Currently counties remove snow and are reimbursed five percent of the cost up to 75 dollars, with the 1955 state appropriation at 800,000 dollars. New York spends about 2,000,000 dollars yearly on ice control as a separate function.

The U S Circuit Court overturned a district court order in a hotel reorganization case. It ruled the company insolvent as of March 2 1943 when proceedings began and rejected a plan excluding stockholders from participation.
