Bill Would Boost State's Racing Tax
In Albany Senator Seymour Halpern proposes a measure to take 7 percent of the pari mutuel tax on horse race betting plus all breakage, boosting state revenue to about 22 700.00. The plan would cut tracks’ share to 3 percent and end breakage. Halpern cites 1943 breakage of 2 163 633 and wartime buying power as justification for public control of the funds. Milton Dunn and Sars Ogden file a certificate to operate as Dunn & Ogden in the city.
