Hoover Commission backs radical overhaul of budgeting and accounting
The Hoover Commission unanimously urged major reforms to the federal budgeting and accounting system. A seven member majority proposed an accountant general in the Treasury to set and enforce general methods, while safeguarding the Comptroller General Lindsay Warren's role. Dissenters warned of eroding Warren’s authority, with Warren and allies urging stronger Congressional oversight instead.

Evening Sky in March Highlights Saturn and Jupiter
Science Service reports Saturn dominates March evenings, located in Leo near Regulus, with Orion, Taurus, Virgo, and Ursa Major visible higher in the sky. Jupiter outshines Saturn but rises later. Mars, Venus, and Mercury are hidden by the sun. March 17 hides Mars entirely as it lies beyond the sun.
