ALCO to Close Hudson Falls Plant

The American Locomotive Co. plans to cease operations at its Hudson Falls plant in the Union Bag and Paper Corp. complex. The facility, which processed spare parts for tanks used overseas, has been operating with a reduced workforce and will shift to a skeleton crew before shutdown.

Funeral Service Held For Former Area Priest

The funeral of Jot Smyth, former assistant pastor at Waterville, was held Friday from St. Patrick's Church, Kishill, where he had served as pastor. Most Rev. Edmund F. Gibbong, Bishop of Mbhan, with Mgr. Kawud A Maginn and Mar. Jobe Glavin attended. Rev. Rollin E. Thompson led the requiem mass with Rev. John Wejina as subdeacon. The ceremony occurred at Calgary Cemetery, Bethlehehen.
