St. Mary's Extends Streak In CYO Basketball

St. Mary's junior team won its 11th straight 45-29 over St. Michael's Cohoes to remain first in the Cohoes CYO League with a 7-0 league mark. Joe Degnan led with 12 points, John Noonan had 10, Tom Kelly and Bob Jackson added 8 each as St. Michael's top scorer Joe Doemel stood out. St. Mary's Intermediate fell 59-58 to St. Peter's Troy, dropping to 7-2 while Peter's moved to 9-0. Bob Leonard led St. Mary's with 22 points and Peter's Rick Livingston held to 5. St. Mary's meets Sacred Heart Cohoes next at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and St. Jude's Wynantskill arrives Sunday at 4 p.m.

Parish Bazaar Plans Set by Church Executive Council

The Holy Name Society and Ladies of St. Anne at St. Anne's Church discussed wiring upgrades for the annual bazaar and kitchen improvements with the improvement committee. Tentative bazaar dates were announced for September 14 to 17.

Funeral for Eugene A. Renzi Held in Waterford

The funeral of Eugene A. Renzi was held yesterday from Finn Funeral Home in Waterford and St. Marys Church. A Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Rev. Arthur G. O Rourke C S A. Bearers included George Castracani Etore Castracani L Scott Cuomo Robert Renzi Eugene Renzi and Chester Gambelli. Interment followed at St. Marys Cemetery with Father O Rourke officiating.

Asbury Club Spon Aclam Chowder Sale In Waterford

Baboon Wanders Into Kitchen In Los Angeles Home

Sandra Ivey encountered an unidentified baboon 28 inches tall in her kitchen in Sylmar. Dennis Koreplin from the animal shelter subdued the primate after a 30 minute struggle. Richard Babb said the baboon will be held eight days before final disposition if unclaimed.

May 15 Deadline For Partial Tax Exemption Applications

City Assessor Charles J. Ellett announced a May 15 deadline for senior citizens to file for a 50 percent real estate tax exemption. Applicants must prove age ownership and income below 3000 dollars in the prior year, provide birth and property records, tax returns, and Social Security statements, and file at City Hall.
