The New York Senate approved a measure to permanently block construction of a 4 million dollar dam on the Moose River at Panther Mountain in the Adirondacks. The vote was 32 to 1 after debate with opposition cited from the Adirondack League Club, which argued the dam would flood 3.0 acres of privately held grounds. Senator Walter Brokes, Cooperstown Republican, introduced the proposal on behalf of conservation interests and a large constituency.
