Market Slips Under Profit Taking Amid Mixed Sessions
New York stocks faced profit taking as rails and oils weighed on the market. Carrier shares started strong but liquidated, oils spiked then faded, and total volume reached 871,750 shares. Gains from certain leaders and dividend news, including a $2.25 quarterly by American Telephone, could not curb late selling. several majors stayed under pressure while others fluctuated. wheat and cotton prices moved lower, reflecting renewed caution.
