Group Names Chest Officers for Community Services
The Council of Community Services met at the YWCA to appoint a personnel committee to interview and select an assistant executive secretary. Augustus W. Hennessey Jr. becomes executive secretary on March 1. The committee will choose a successor as soon as possible, with Fred Green chairing and Emory Coughlin among the members. The board ratified Hennessey’s appointment and heard reports from division chairs on health family care and office personnel. The finance committee reported income of 2389 and expenditures of 2843 for the first quarter. May budget conferences were set for earlier preparation. The Central Index had cleared 889 cases in the first quarter, and Hennessey noted the national Chest and Council conference emphasized genuine community participation for campaign success. The upcoming delegate assembly will meet February 28 at Samaritan Hospital to discuss programs.
