Legislative Committees Prepare to Reopen Work
Albany reports that legislative committees, dormant since the current session began, will resume tomorrow after a long pause. Expect debates as calendars widen, with topics tied to war production and correctional reform. The State Prison Association released a 21 point plan urging expansion of convict labor output and farm land use for war needs, while endorsing parts of the governor's 1955 message on state employees, buildings, judiciary, delinquency, and parole. They call for amending the correction law to separate the commissioner’s leadership from the commission’s powers.
