Labor and 1944 election prospects loom over Roosevelt era

The piece argues labor voters may not mobilize as strongly in congressional contests as in top-ticket races. It cites 1935, 1940, and 1942 shifts for Republicans, notes unions plan to fund “educational” efforts for Roosevelt, and questions whether wartime unity will sway voters next November. It mentions the suppression risk under the federal labor contributions law and predicts pressure on labor to back the President. A Milton, Conn., obituary for Milton Green follows.
